Issues With An Ipod device

The iPod is enjoyed by many people, but a few common technical issues may occur.


The iPod---produced by the Apple company---is a portable mp3 player which comes in a variety of forms, including the "Classic" version and its smaller equivalent, the iPod "Nano." The iPod is popular with music lovers, but like any piece of technology, all of the iPod models are subject to some general problems. Solutions to these problems can often be found through the Apple Support website.


iPod Screen Freeze


Most iPods feature a screen through which users can choose what music to play, and navigate through the device's other menu systems. The iPod screen will occasionally freeze, meaning that whatever button is pressed, the screen refuses to co-operate. In many cases, simply flicking the iPod's Hold button, typically found on the device's top, and then flicking it back after a short period of time has elapsed, will help. Otherwise, users can try resetting their iPods, as suggested by the Applerepo website. Users can do this by holding both the menu and the center select---or play buttons---down together for several seconds, until the Apple logo appears on screen.


iPod Doesn't Start


In some cases, the iPod simply won't switch on. The device will be unresponsive. Fortunately, there are a few steps which can be taken to remedy this. The problem could be a result of the device's battery life being very low; as suggested by the Macworld Magazine website. Users should try recharging it---using either a power adapter or by mounting it onto a computer--- to check if this is the problem.


It could be that the iPod's battery is simply at the end of its life. This may be the case if the battery won't charge, no matter how long it's left to do so. According to the Macworld Magazine website, well-used iPods over 18 months old are most likely to have dead batteries. The user will have to replace the battery; both Apple and thirds-party retailers sell iPod replacement batteries.


Device Not Available


When connecting the iPod device to a computer, the user may find that the device does not show up in the iTunes program used to sync songs to the iPod and to manage the music library. This means that the user won't be able to change what songs are on the iPod or add more, and possibly that he won't be able to charge the device through his computer. According to the Apple Support website, this is often a problem caused by outdated USB drivers on the computer; alternatively, it could be that the drivers simply aren't installed correctly. Users should try reinstalling or updating the drivers on their computer through the Device Manager tab found under "My Computer".
