Change the font size on your PC temporarily or permanently.
Font settings define the style, size and color of text on a page. You can control the font size in most Microsoft applications holding down the "Ctrl" key and using the scroll wheel or button on your mouse. Web pages usually specify a font size in the source code and in order to modify this, you need to make changes to your browser settings. If text is part of a graphic image you cannot usually affect its size by changing font settings, although the size of the graphic itself may increase with certain browser settings.
Instructions
Temporarily Increase Browser Font Size
1. Click on "View" in the menu bar in Internet Explorer. Select "Text Size" and choose the size you prefer, from "Smallest" to "Largest." This will remain in force until you change it again.
2. Press the "Ctrl" and "+" keys together in Firefox to increase text and image size on a Web page in stages. Each time you press the key combination, font and image size will increase. Press "Ctrl" and "-" together to reduce the size again or "Ctrl" and "0" to return to the default size for the page. Alternatively, click "View" in the menu bar, then "Zoom" and "Zoom Text Only" to enlarge text without affecting images.
3. Press "Ctrl" and "+" or "Ctrl" and "0" together in Opera to increase text size and "Ctrl" and "-" to reduce it again. Note that this also enlarges the size of any images on the page.
Permanently Increase Browser Font Size
4. Click "Tools" on the menu bar in Internet Explorer, select "Internet Options" and choose "Accessibility." Under "Formatting" check "Ignore font sizes set on Web pages." Click "View" on the menu bar, then "Text Size" and choose the most appropriate of the five sizes offered.
5. Click on "Tools" in the Firefox menu bar, then select "Content." Under "Fonts and Colors" set the default font face and size. Click the "Advanced" button and click on the drop-down list next to "Minimum font size" and select an appropriate size. Click "OK" to close the "Fonts" window, then click "OK" to exit "Options."
6. Click on the "File" menu in Opera and select "Preferences" and then "Fonts." Under "Minimum font size (pixels)" select an appropriate minimum size. Click on "Normal" and then "Choose" and set the default size under "Size." Click "OK" to apply.
Increase Screen and Icon Text Size
7. Right-click on the Desktop and choose "Personalize" in Windows Vista. Click on "Adjust font size (DPI)" in the left navigation bar. Check "Larger scale (120 DPI)" in the "DPI Scaling" window and click "Apply" and then "OK," or click on the "Custom DPI" button to set a custom size. Restart your computer to complete the change.
8. Right-click on the Desktop and choose "Properties" in Windows XP. Click the "Appearance" tab.
9. Click the drop-down box under "Font size" and select "Large" or "Extra Large." Click the "Apply" button and then click "OK."
