Fix An Invalid Dvd Navigation Structure

When using a DVD based navigation system you may run into display problems.

Some older car navigation systems use a DVD based map network. This is a rather sluggish alternative to the hard drive or flash based navigation system as the device must rely on a spinning DVD. If you are running into problems using the DVD navigation structure it is possible to correct the issue with a few troubleshooting steps.

Instructions

1. Clean off the DVD you are using in the DVD navigation system. If the disc is dirty you are going to receive an invalid message on the navigation LCD screen. Wipe the disc clean with a soft, clean cloth to remove any dust, debris or fingerprints.

2. Obtain updated navigation DVDs from the dealership you purchased the vehicle from. If you do not have the updated maps for your car you are going to receive an invalid error.

3. Insert the correct navigation DVD into the DVD system. A region is printed on the disc (such as mid-west, south-east or by state). If you are in a different region than your inserted DVD the navigation system is going to give you the invalid error message.
