Etsy is a website that allows users to set up online shops featuring their own homemade items to sell worldwide. Creating a shop is free, although each item costs $0.20 to list, as of 2010. The listing remains active until the item is sold, making Etsy a cheap place to sell handmade goods, and the natural traffic through the site makes sales much more likely than selling through an individual website. To maximize your chances of being successful, it is important to have a professional shop image, including an eye-catching shop banner.
Instructions
1. Find an image for the background. This needs to be a high quality image, but shouldn't be too distracting. Locate a background image that is free for general use online or take a picture of some fabric or ribbon.
2. Crop the image down to size. It should measure 760 pixels wide and 100 pixels high.
3. Add your shop name. If you have a "statement" font, write your shop name in this. Ensure the text is big and clear enough to easily read.
4. Add images. You may wish to choose an image of a product you sell or a logo if you have one. Ensure this is a high quality image and fits well onto the background.
5. Write additional text, if required. You may wish to add information about your company, a welcome message, your contact details or nothing at all.
6. Increase or decrease the saturation to make the banner as bright or dull as you wish.
7. Save the image as a JPG file.
8. Upload the image by logging into your Etsy account and choosing the "Appearance" tab.
