Most video game consoles allow users to create user names or other forms of identification that allow communication or game play with specific users. The Nintendo Wii uses friend codes in lieu of user names to identify your console. Also referred to as the console's Wii number, this identification is necessary to add friends and communicate with other users through the Wii network. You can give your Wii friend code to friends and family members so they can connect with you through the Wii network.
Instructions
1. Turn on your Wii console and wait for it to load. From the main Wii screen, click on the "Message Board" icon at the bottom right-hand corner of the screen. The icon will have an image of an envelope.
2. Click on the "Create Message" icon at the bottom left-hand corner of the screen. This icon has a piece of paper and a pen for visual recognition. Open your address book by selecting the "Address Book" option to the far right of the screen.
3. Hover your cursor over the arrow at the left-hand side of your screen. The arrow will expand into a button with a minus symbol. Press the "A" button while your cursor is hovered over the button.
4. Write down your Wii friend code from the screen that appears. The screen will read "This console's Wii number," followed by your 16-digit Wii friend code.
