Fix A Ti83 Calculator

Texas Instruments manufactures many models of calculators to suit business and academic needs. The TI-83 is a scientific graphing calculator that is equipped with multi-function buttons to perform a wide variety of calculations. Occasionally, you may experience some technical difficulties or minor errors with your TI-83 calculator. Many of these errors can be fixed with the execution of a few simple button sequences. Instructions


Fix the Contrast


1. Push the button labeled "2nd."


2. Push and hold the up arrow button to darken the screen.


3. Push and hold the down arrow button to lighten the screen.


Getting Rid of the Checkerboard Cursor


4. Delete some characters to return the checkerboard cursor to the regular cursor. The checkerboard cursor may have appeared because you entered the maximum amount of allowed characters.


5. Press "2nd" then "MEM."


6. Push "2" to delete some items stored in your memory. The checkerboard cursor may have appeared because your memory is full.


Fixing an Error Message


7. Write down the name of the error.


8. Press "2." The number two corresponds to the "Go to" action.


9. Read the error code and follow the onscreen instructions.

10. Write down the issues you are having with the calculator.


11. Call Texas Instruments Customer Support at 1-800-842-2737 for general questions regarding your TI-83 calculator. Tell the representative the issues you wrote down.


12. Call the Programming Assistance Group branch of customer support at 1-972-917-8324 for technical assistance. Tell the representative the issues you wrote down.
