Make Fabric Chapel Ad banners

Create you own banner for your church at home using simple supplies.

A banner is easy to make and can make a great impact visually. Make a banner for your church using simple craft products that can be found at any craft store. Print the letters or image on your computer to be traced onto the banner, or draw them freehand for a more artistic approach. Homemade banners can be used to decorate for outdoor events, such as carnivals, to advertise the times of your church service or mass, or just to spread a message about your faith.

Instructions

1. Decide how large you want your banner to be. If it’s a banner for the inside of the church, use a banner that is about 10 feet long and 3 feet tall. If you want to hang the banner on the outside of the church, you may want to make it larger.

2. Cut the banner to the size and length that you have chosen. If you want a more finished border, fold the edges under around the banner and glue them down with fabric glue.

3. Determine the words or logo that you want to put on your church banner. You can use a Bible verse, quote or saying, or you can use your church’s name and logo. If you have an image of the logo, open the logo file in a photo editing software, such as Photoshop or Pixlr. Resize the image to be slightly smaller than your banner. For instance, if you want the banner to be 10 feet by 3 feet, resize the image to be 9 feet by 2 feet. If you are not using an image, open a new document in a photo editing program that is 9 feet by 2 feet, and type the letters that you want to appear on the banner.

4. Save the image file on a flash drive, and take it to a professional printer, such as FedEx Kinko’s or Office Max. They will print the image onto a large piece of paper. You also can draw your own letters directly onto the felt, using a pencil and a ruler.

5. Cut out the letters of the words or image that you have drawn or printed. Trace each letter onto a different colored felt that matches the color scheme for your banner. Cut out each letter from the felt.

6. Glue the felt letters to the background using fabric glue. Allow the glue to dry completely, and then hang the banner carefully inside or outside your church.
