Create A Vehicle Magnet

Making your own magnetic bumper stickers is a great way to show off your creative side. It is also a good way to advertise if you're running your own small business. Whether you want to have a professional looking layout, or a fun, unique design created entirely by you, making your own bumper sticker magnet for your vehicle is easy and will take only a short amount of time.

Instructions

1. Buy your magnetic sheet. The kind you buy will depend on what you want your finished product to look like. If you would like a standard rectangular-shaped bumper magnet, then opt for the pre-cut magnetic sheets--they have perforated edges that are easily torn or cut apart. If you would like something with a little more freedom, buy a non-cut magnetic sheet as you can cut out any shape or design you want, and in any size.

2. Draw your design on your magnetic sheet with markers. This option will show your creativity, and you can draw artwork on the magnet, in addition to writing a personal slogan in your own handwriting. If you want a more formal, professional looking bumper sticker, use Step 3 instead.

3. Open up your greeting card program on your computer and load up a template that you like. Once open, create a design and logo that you would like, editing the text within to get your message across. Once it's finished to your satisfaction, place the magnetic sheet into your printer and print your freshly created design onto the magnet.

4. Use the scissors to cut out the design you created. If you bought pre-cut sheets, simply follow the perforated edges for a straight, rectangular bumper magnet. If you want a different shape and are using non-cut magnetic sheets, simply cut the design out that you would like.

5. Brush on a coat of clear contact over the top of the magnet. This will protect your magnet from rain and other environmental dangers. Ink or markers will not run or fade as easily if clear contact is in place. Let the contact dry completely--24 hours should be sufficient--before placing the finished magnet on your car.
