The requirements to export animals can be very stringent. This is due to the risk of spreading disease or pathogens that can damage the crops of other countries. Depending upon the country that you are exporting the animals to, the requirements may vary.
Instructions
1. Learn the health requirements of the country that will be receiving the exported animals. Every country has specific health requirements that have to be met before the animals will be received. Log on to the USDA website for a listing of countries and their requirements before you export any animals.
2. Take the animals that you will export to be evaluated by an accredited veterinarian. The veterinarian will certify the health status of the herd.
3. Have the accredited veterinarian record the test results of the animals. They will fill out and sign an international health certificate.
4. Get the international health certificate endorsed by a Veterinary Services (VS) Area Office. You can learn where your VS Area Office is located by logging on to aphis.usda.gov/animal_health.
5. Determine the port where you're required to export your animals from. The ports vary depending upon whom you are exporting too. You can learn this information on the USDA website as well.
6. Read 9 CFR 91 of the USDA requirements to determine the shipping requirements of the animals that you will export. Different animals will need to be crated differently.
