Check Up On A Moneygram

Check on a Moneygram

Moneygram can be used by individuals to wire money to others all around the globe. To send a Moneygram the person completes a form and pays the necessary fees to complete the money transfer. Once the wire transfer has been completed, Moneygram has established procedures that will allow the recipient to check on the transfer to determine when the money is available for pickup.

Instructions

1. Speak with the individual who is sending you the Moneygram to ensure the money has been sent. Ask the person how long it has been since he sent the money transfer. Ask him for the eight-digit reference number, how much money was sent, and any secret question and answer that he may have listed on your money transfer for security purposes.

2. Wait 10 minutes past the time the Moneygram was actually sent.

3. Dial (800) 666-3947 from a touch tone telephone. Speak to the automated operator that you would like to "Check Transaction Status."

4. Speak whether you will be entering the "Reference Number" or "Sender's Phone Number" to check status.

5. Speak the reference number or sender's telephone number. You will then be advised of whether your money is available for pickup.

6. Visit a local MoneyGram agent near you. You can find a list of MoneyGram locations near you by visiting the MoneyGram website. You can also get a list of locations through the Moneygram telephone number. Be sure to take valid picture identification with you.

Depending upon the location, the picture identification may have to be one that is government-issued, such as a drivers license, military ID, state ID or passport. If you don't have picture identification, providing the answer to the secret question listed by the sender may be sufficient.

7. Wait to receive the payout of your money transfer.
