Select A Vehicle Clean Location

Keeping a vehicle clean seems like an easy task. If you have ever washed and detailed your car, though, you might have found that it isn't as easy as it looks. Finding the right car wash can make the task easier and keep your own driveway clean.

Instructions

1. Consider the services. Some people prefer to use a self-service car wash. Many enjoy taking the time to carefully wash and detail their vehicles. Others prefer to drop the vehicle off and come back when the job is done. Still others like to sit and wait as the car goes through an assembly-line process and is quickly washed and detailed.

2. Compare prices. Smaller price points include less service. For a couple of dollars in change, there are car wash facilities available that allow a driver to pull into a bay, pump quarters into the slot and use various brushes and hoses to wash the vehicle. Other inexpensive options include "touchless" drive-through options, often found at gas stations. For a few dollars more, you can take your vehicle to a staffed car wash locations and receive a basic car wash service. If you have a higher budget, the same facilities often offer full wash, dry and detail services. Some locations even offer oil changes and other maintenance packages for a few extra bucks.

3. Go all the way. For the very discriminating vehicle owner, some smaller shops provide the "toothbrush in the cracks" treatment, where your vehicle gets such detailed and personal service that even seats are removed and carpets steamed. You will pay the most for this service.

4. Consider the reputation of the car wash location. After narrowing your choices by services offered and budgetary concerns, talk to others about which facilities they might recommend. Call the Better Business Bureau or the chamber of commerce to find out about complaints or recommendations. For more detail-oriented locations, the car wash may have available references. Make an appointment and check out the operation. Watch how staff handles other people's vehicles.
