With all the recent recalls going on, you might have noticed that a large number of products on the store shelves are not made in America. Unfortunately, today, you must go out of your way to buy products that are made in America. When you do find those products, be prepared to pay more. Just remember, you do get what you pay for.
Instructions
1. Read the book "How Americans Can Buy American" by Roger Simmermaker. This book provides key information on which companies are American owned. Labels can be deceiving. Products that you assume are American made could be produced outside the US entirely. Go online (see Resources) to order your copy of the book and get a list of products and their nationality.
2. Consider the brand before you buy your gasoline. Chevron, Exxon, Marathon, Phillips 66 and Texaco are all American owned, unlike Amoco, BP, Citco and Shell.
3. Go online and search for "American Made" products (see Resources).
4. Look for specific toys that are made in the USA. Most Crayola crayons are made in America. Check the labels to be certain. The "Melissa and Doug" floor puzzles, along with the ever popular games "Battleship," "Candyland," "Operation," "Monopoly" and "Sorry" are also all made in America. Anything you buy from American Plastic Toy Company is also made in the USA.
