Bicycles can be sold online and shipped to customers.
With the increasing use of the Internet for browsing and shopping online stores, you might decide that it makes sense to start selling your products over the Internet. Once you set up your online store, you'll be able to sell to consumers across the country, not just people who can drive to your local bike shop. However, if someone from across the country decides to order one of your floor models, you'll need to package it up and ship it to them. Knowing package a bike is also useful in case you need to ship your own.
Instructions
1. Find the box that went with the bike you're shipping. If you can't find the original box, find one that the bike will fit into.
2. Clean the bike you're packaging before you remove any parts. Wipe down the wheels if it's been ridden outside. You'll need to remove the handlebar, pedals, seat post and wheels before packaging the bicycle.
3. Use your fork block to keep the front fork dropouts from sticking through the box you're using. Do this by placing the fork block in the front fork dropouts.
4. Rotate the fork and stem. They should be facing backwards when you package the bike. Also, make sure the handlebar is parallel to the bike's frame.
5. Use the bubble wrap to cover all the bike tubes. Extra bubble wrap needs to be placed around the brakes and derailleurs. The parts you removed should be wrapped up, as well.
6. Place any smaller parts, such as the bike pedals, in a small box that will slide into the bike box.
7. Tape the loose pieces, such as the handlebar, to the bubble wrap that's wrapped around the bike frame. Secure it well enough to keep it from moving around inside the box during shipping.
8. Slide the bicycle with the attached parts into one side of the box and the wheels into the other with the cardboard divider in between.
