Sell Web Advertising In Your Website

If you have a website or blog, you've probably thought about making money with it. Selling advertising space on your site --- also known as monetizing --- is one way of earning income, and it requires little input on your part once it's set up. Remember that the revenue from ad sales is based on the number of visitors to your site and on the percentage of those visitors who click on the ad. Make sure your website is informative and updated regularly to maximize the number of hits and the revenue you earn from advertising.

Instructions

1. Determine whether you want to sell advertising through a network or on your own. Beginners should consider an ad network such as Google AdSense or Text-Link-Ads while getting established and developing a readership. Larger, established websites can have good success selling ads directly. Decide how many ads you want and where you will place them. You want high visibility with minimal impact to the reader.

2. Create a PayPal account. Nearly all ad networks pay revenue through this service. If you sell your own ads, your vendors can pay you this way as well.

3. Create an account with an ad network. This ad network will give you instructions on place their ads on your site and will request your PayPal e-mail address so they can deposit revenue.

4. Create spaces for the ads on your website and put ads in those spaces. Even big sites will benefit from placeholder ad network ads, as these allow potential advertisers to see how their own piece will look. If you do not want to sell your own ads, this is all you need to do.

5. Determine how much you will charge for your ads. Consider the size of your blog, your niche audience and the amount of traffic you receive. Look at competitor's websites and find out how much they charge for their ads. Price yours similarly.

6. Create an "Advertise" page on your site or a "Contact Me" link for potential advertisers to inquire about your rates and subscribe to advertising.

7. If you like, contact potential advertisers to sell them ads. You will need to present your website and its audience, describe your traffic flow and list your rates in three to five paragraphs.
