Michigan television stations reflect the wide geographic and cultural landscape of the state itself. From the dangerous urban environs of Detroit, to the Central Michigan University's public broadcasting channel, to the sleepy rural atmosphere of Traverse City's 9 & 10 News Channel, Michigan television stations serve and reflect their local communities.
WJBK
Owned and operated by television network Fox, WJBK originally began broadcasting to the Detroit Metro area as a CBS affiliate in 1948. The station has produced original programming, including a series of horror movies on Saturday afternoons hosted by Sir Graves Ghastly, aka Lawson J. Deming. Roman Catholic priest Raymond Schlinkert hosted a 15-minute religious lecture program called "With This Ring," in which he gave advice to married couples about domestic life and its assorted obligations. The station also has a dedicated news department, broadcasting approximately 50 hours of news per week.

WFUM
WFUM is part of a network of television stations run by Central Michigan University. The bulk of WFUM's programming is nationally syndicated through public broadcasting network PBS, although the station does run locally-produced programming, such as the long-running "Michigan Out of Doors." The station's primary audience is located in the economically depressed region of Flint, Michigan. The station is underwritten by local businesses including Dales Natural Foods, and institutions such as the Flint Institute of Arts.

WWTV
WWTV's emphasis is on the production of news, to the point that the station has forsaken its call letters in favor of branding itself as the "9 & 10 News." Technically, WWTV can only lay title to the "9" segment of the "9 and 10" news; it operates in tandem with WWUP, which is a satellite version of WWTV. The station produces five hours of local news daily, along with one hour of news on the weekend. The station has been broadcasting since 1954, and is currently affiliated with the CBS network.
