Write A Toddlerage Children'S Book

Writing a book for toddlers can be challenging.


Some people may assume that writing a book for toddler age children is an easy task but writing for toddlers is just as challenging as writing for older children. Having creative ideas and organization skills are essential to the book-writing process. A good writing course will teach you write an interesting story for toddlers using a limited amount of words. Having an understanding of the toddler age group and the subjects they find interesting will help you to write a compelling story that toddlers will enjoy.


Instructions


1. Take a writing course.


Take a writing course that will teach you write for toddler-age children. Check for local writing classes or take a writing course online.


2. Visit your local library and browse through the toddler book section.


Research the different types of published books for toddlers. Young children like books that feature simple stories and everyday activities like getting dressed and bath time. Books that teach the alphabet, numbers, shapes and colors are also popular. Visit your local library or bookstore and study the toddler book section to see what subjects are used and how they are handled.


3. Write down creative ideas.


Begin brainstorming for unique toddler book ideas. Use the clustering technique to tap into your creativity (see Resources). Jot down your ideas in a notebook. Do not worry about constructing a proper story, just let your creative ideas flow.


4. Write a story.


Write your book for toddlers. Begin stringing the ideas in your notebook together to form a story. As you write, remember tips you have learned in your writing class.


5. Edit the story on the computer.


Edit your book. Spend time fixing any mistakes and improving the story. Edit your book on a computer program like Microsoft Office Word.


6. Have a professional review your book.


Have a qualified professional such as an editor or writing teacher read your finished copy to see if they have any suggestions for improvement. Continue to revise your book until you are satisfied with the finished copy.
